Are you the Engine Room Rating we are looking for?


What will you do? 
Your tasks as a Engine Room Rating are diverse and as such you will have the opportunity to use and develop your problem-solving skills in a wide range of scenarios. As an Engine Room Rating, you are responsible for:

  • In the safe and efficient completion of the duties required by the Chief / Second Engineer's standing Work Routines, planned maintenance jobs, operational duties, and general maintenance of the parts of the vessel managed by the Chief / Second Engineer including cleaning, painting and greasing.
  • Carrying out duties as set in the Muster list during any Emergency.
  • Carrying out Engine Room watch keeping duties as directed.
  • Carrying out Engine Room fire and safety patrols as directed.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of all Engine Room firefighting and safety equipment as directed by the Second Engineer.
  • Attending all statutory fire and safety drills on board.
  • Be familiar with the relevant parts, procedures and requirements of the SMS contained within the Docmap system.

  • STCW Elementary First Aid
  • STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
  • STCW Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities
  • STCW Personal Survival Techniques
  • STCW Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats
  • STCW Seafarers with Designated Security Duties
  • Engine Room Watch Rating Certificate

Preferred Certification:

  • Crowd Management Training
  • Passenger Safety Training
