Snøhetta is an integrated architecture, landscape, interior, product design and graphic design firm based in Oslo, New York, Innsbruck, Paris, Adelaide, Melbourne, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and San Francisco. Since 1989, Snøhetta has established itself as a serious practice of urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, product, and brand design.

We develop meaningful products for a world in change. To ensure a meaningful impact, we partner with leaders in their field to explore and utilise research and emerging technologies to inform the design process and our impact on the world.

A Snøhetta intern is an active member of our studio and takes part in the projects in a similar way to other team members.

Internships are paid positions and last for either 6 or 10 months starting Aug 2025. They are open to students from around the world who are pursuing a degree in industrial design or relevant related field.

What a Snøhetta product design intern will do:

  • Actively participate in design projects.
  • Develop strong design concepts, solutions and presentations
  • Sketches, drawings, renderings, and prototyping.
  • Learn Through Experience: Attend client presentations, go on site visits, and meet consultants to gain practical insights.
  • Develop Skills: Work on both digital and analog exploratory methods, including physical and digital model-making, supported by experienced team members.
  • Foster Community: Contribute to the vibrant social life of the studio by engaging in or arranging activities that strengthen our collaborative culture.
  • Be part of the Product design core team as well as the larger Snøhetta Oslo team of colleagues.
  • Join the larger, multidisciplinary Snøhetta intern group of the year.

 

What we are looking for:

  • Team player with high degree of self-motivation and that has the ability to adapt to dynamic project environments.
  • Skilled designer that enjoys an exploratory and iterative process when developing product designs, through sketching, drawing and prototyping, both digital and analog.
  • Strong conceptual thinker: exploring design narratives that connect to creative and innovative solutions within a wide range of typologies.
  • Proficiency with 3D software like Rhino/Fusion 360/Blender and Keyshot/Enscape, as well as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Experience with physical model making and photography is beneficial.
  • Good understanding of different manufacturing technologies and processes.
  • Strong communicator: verbal, written and visual communication and presentation skills (English is our primary working language). Open to give and receive positive and constructive feedback in a respectful way.
  • Genuine interest in and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and enrich team dynamics.
  • Passionate about and skilled at integrating sustainable principles into designs

 

Practicalities

  • Duration: 6 months (August 2024 – January 2025) or 10 months (August 2024 – June 2025)
  • Location: Full-time, on-site at Snøhetta Oslo
  • Eligibility: Students with a minimum of 2.5 years of relevant school experience in Industrial Design or similar relevant field. Please note that applicants who have completed their master’s degree within this field are not eligible for this program.
  • Application Deadline: March 10th, 2025, but interviews might start before that for early applicants.
